Ashley Schenkein Jewelry uses inspiration from cities around the world as the namesake for each season's newest styles. Ashley had quite the adventure this past New Years spending time in Tulum gathering ideas for the new line, exploring the ancient ruins, relaxing on the beach, and getting engaged! She wanted to share all her favorite things to do in Tulum as it is a must-see for any traveler and will forever hold a special place in her heart. Here are a few of Ashley's favorite places to stay, restaurants to eat, and sites to see.

Places to stay
Stay at Coco Tulum for a boho-chic vibe next to the serene white beaches and turquoise blue water.

Stay a night...or two at Be Tulum for a view in between the beach and the jungle on the sea cliffs.

Nomade Tulum is for an experience with a little more of a spiritual edge...you won't regret it, and you'll feel amazingly relaxed and rejuvenated afterward!

Places to Eat
Ashley may be a little biased but highly suggests Posada Margherita for the best Italian spot to eat in Tulum; it's where she celebrated her engagement!
Also try Hartwood for the best seafood...doesn't hurt that they are environmentally aware and break down their waste with zero carbon footprint, creating 100 percent organic compost that is used in regenerating the mangrove environment and interior farming. WOW!
Night Out
Now for the fun part, what to do at night?! Ashley highly suggests dancing the night away at Papaya Playa Project...and we can see why! A completely sustainable project complete with full-moon parties, delicious cocktails, and amazing music.

During the Day
Sitting by the beach with a good book and some delicious tequila is certainly enough to fill the day, but if you are in need of some adventure you can swim in the ancient cenotes, visit Valladolid, or even kite surf.
Touristy-must
Yes, we know you generally want to avoid the overcrowded and cliche touristy things to do, but sometimes there's a reason so many people are at a certain spot and it can be totally worth your time. In the case of Tulum, the ancient Mayan ruins are completely worth it! The history and mysteries of this amazing culture can only be read about so much...actually seeing the artifacts and dwellings first hand are something you will never forget. Tulum's ruins are the only ones that are seaside, so even if you're not a history buff, you're sure to be swept away.
Hopefully this will help you during your stay in Tulum!! Be sure to add it to the top of your travel list, and soon!
