The most important aspect to consider at this stage is the wearer’s style. Do they love timeless looks? Do they have an affinity for sleek, contemporary lines? Do they prefer to be a bit more edgy?

THE WEARER'S LIFESTYLE
The wearer's lifestyle is important, so we can design the perfect piece of jewelry that is beautiful and functional for their lifestyle and will stand the test of time.
What does the wearer do during the majority of their day? Are they working with their hands? Do they wear gloves at work? Do they love to garden, rock climb, or lift weights? How often does the wearer plan on wearing the jewelry – will it hardly ever be taken off or never worn to work or during their work day? Their lifestyle will help guide the design and the type of stone we recommend.
THE WEARER'S STYLE
We want to know the wearer's style. If you're unsure and it's a surprise, it might be helpful to enlist the support of a sister or close friend who can keep your secret safe. It's also a good idea to check out Pinterest boards—whether they're your own or your partner's—to see if any hints have been left behind. We're happy to browse Pinterest with you during the consultation to help pinpoint the perfect style.
Do they love to shop for all things vintage, with a preference for ornate details? Are they sleek and modern, with a polished look?
Perhaps they prefer a classic design that will transcend all trends? Or maybe a show-stopper that will turn heads everywhere they go is the goal? Any details about their style will help us design the perfect ring.
TYPE AND SHAPE OF STONE
It is essential first to narrow down the type of stone. Do you want a sparkly white stone? If so, are you looking for a natural, conflict-free mined diamond, a lab diamond, or perhaps a moissanite? Alternatively, you might desire a colored stone. Did you know that sapphires come in every color of the rainbow? They are an ideal choice for colored stones since they come in various colors, and sapphires are also a 9.0 on the Mohs hardness scale (diamonds are a 10, for reference).
We also work with other colored gemstones, such as emerald, ruby, aquamarine, morganite, and many more. After you have narrowed in on the type of stone, it is essential to clarify the shape of your stone. Ideally, you don't have more than two favorite shapes, but sometimes, it can be helpful to be open to more than one shape, especially if you're looking for a colored stone, as you'll have more options available.
TIMELINE
Your timeline is one of the most critical aspects of the design process, so we know which options are available. Please let us know as
soon as possible if you have a date in mind (especially if you’re planning to get down on one knee) so we can plan accordingly and make your proposal a success and stress-free.
BUDGET
Before coming in for your consultation, it can be beneficial to consider your budget. Knowing your range from the beginning can streamline the custom design process, but we're here to help if you're unsure. We are happy to provide a few quotes within different ranges, giving you a better idea of what to expect. So don't fret if you don't know your budget because you have yet to learn what your dream ring might cost.
